KUWAIT: Officials of the Chinese Huawei Technologies Co, Ltd have briefed His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on their plans for investing in Kuwait, Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Director General Sheikh Dr Mishaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said. Sheikh Dr Mishaal made the statement yesterday after attending a meeting for His Highness the Amir with the Chinese Huawei Technologies Co, Ltd Rotating CEO Guo Ping, as the world leading telecommunications firm is opening a company in Kuwait.

He added that they explained to HH the Amir how they will help realize the goals of Kuwait’s development plans and job opportunities to provide for the Kuwaiti youth. HH the Amir welcomed such companies that help achieve state goals and bring in technology investments, creativity and innovation, to vary sources of income and provide new jobs for Kuwaiti people. HH the Amir expressed on behalf of the country his welcome and full support to all commercial projects and promising investment opportunities in the economy and investment fields and achieving better ambitious improvement toward advancement and prosperity.

Huawei CEO Guo expressed pleasure and commitment by the company to engage in the investment and participate in developing the telecommunication technology, including providing training to young Kuwaitis. The meeting was attended by Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs Sheikh Ali Jarah Al-Sabah and Director General of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr Mishaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah also received yesterday the Trade and Industry Minister accompanied by Director General of Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) Sheikh Dr Mishaal Jaber Al- Ahmad Al-Sabah and Huawei mobile Co CEO Guo Ping. The guests briefed HH the Crown Prince on the company’s contribution to developing technology and information sector. HH the Crown Prince thanked the guests for their efforts and contribution to improving the technology sector, stressing the importance of the communication field which serves all economic progress in society. —KUNA
