KUWAIT: Kuwait shooters got a heroes' welcome after the delegation arrival from the 14th Asian Championship that was held in Qatar. They qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and collected nine medals.
Director General of Public Authority for Sports Dr Humoud Fulaiteh Al-Shimmari, President of Kuwait and Arab Shooting Federations, Secretary General of Asian Shooting Confederation Eng Duaij Khalaf Al-Otaibi and Secretary General of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations Obaid Munahi Al-Osaimi along with other officials were on hand upon the arrival of shooters at Kuwait International Airport.
Kuwait shooter Talal Al-Rasheedi won the gold medal of the trap competition, and with it he qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. The trap team of Talal Al-Rasheedi, Khalid Al-Mudhaf and Nasser Al-Miqlid also won the team trap gold medal. Shooters Sarah Al-Hawal and Abdelrahman Al-Faihan won the mix trap gold medal.
Meanwhile Khalid Al-Mudhaf won the trap's silver while teammate Nasser Al-Miqlid won the bronze of the same event.
The team of Abdallah Al-Rasheedi, Mohammad Al-Daihani and Al-Alban won the silver medal of the team skeet event.
The team of Ahmad Al-Afasi, Jarrah Al-Shuwaier and Saad Al-Mutairi won the team's double trap.
On his part shooter Saud Habeeb won the skeet bronze medal and qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics giving Kuwait its fourth seat.
The juniors trap team of Bader Al-Adwani, Salah Al-Rasheedi and Yousuf Al-Rasheedi won the bronze medal, while the juniors bronze medal was won by the team of Hamad Al-Ablani, Salem Al-Rasheedi and Saud Al-Hamly.
PAS Director General Dr Humoud Fulaiteh said the Kuwait Shooting Sport Club, as always, makes Kuwait proud in international arenas, and thanked chairman of the board, board members and shooters who qualified for four seats in the upcoming Olympic games, as they promised.
He said this shows that the sport of shooting is on the right track, and we expect to win Olympic medals in Tokyo in the name of Kuwait.
Dr Fulaiteh thanked KSSC for its efforts and hoped that clubs and federations to follow example.
Chairman of the Board of KSSC Eng Duaij Al-Otaibi said the board is happy to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics with four players and congratulated shooters Abdelrahman Al-Faihan, Talal Al-Torqi, Saud Habeeb and Mansour Al-Torqi for their achievement, adding "we are happy with the results of men and women in addition to the good results the juniors made, and described it as promising.
Eng Al-Otaibi thanked PAS and its Director General Dr Humoud Fulaiteh who was keen on being on hand with the shooters.
Al-Otaibi said "on behalf of the shooting community, we dedicate this achievement to HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of Arab and Kuwait Shooting Federations Obaid Munahi Al-Osaimi that as we receive our shooting heroes who won nine medals and two additional qualifications to Tokyo Olympics, we find, with great regret, people who conspire against Kuwait shooting sport in order to fail the successes and achievements. He said details of those conspiracies were sent in writing to the board of directors of Public Authority for Sports. He said that "we at the Kuwait Shooting Federation have confidence in the PAS board of directors to foil the conspiracies.
He said we keep our full rights to take the necessary measures to maintain achievements of Kuwait shooting.
