KUWAIT: The country witnessed heavy rain and strong winds on Monday with speeds exceeding 50 km per hour, according to Kuwait Meteorological Center. Dirar Al-Ali, a meteorological department observer, told Kuwait Times that rainfall will start to ease gradually from Tuesday noon, and chances of rain will gradually decrease during the day.
Sporadic rains disrupted life in Kuwait on Monday even as motorists negotiated a tough day driving through wet roads across the country. Ali expected unstable weather marked with intermittent rainfall will continue throughout Kuwait, noting the country will also witness sporadic light rain during the weekend.
"The weather will improve by Tuesday noon. However, it will be cold during the day and severely cold at night," astronomer Adel Al-Sadoun said, pointing out that this type of rain is called "Deemah", which means light but continuous. "The wind is northerly, so I expect rain to remain light during the week. I don't think it will be heavy, but it will be moderate and continuous. Kuwait recorded today (Monday) 11-12 mm of rain in some areas, but this will not cause floods in the country," he explained to Kuwait Times.
