KUWAIT: The health ministry is opening two new ambulance centers next September, announced Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Medical Support Services, Dr Yaqoub Al-Tammar on Monday. The two centers will be located in Kuwait University’s Al-Shadadiya campus and at the Boulevard. This brings the total number of ambulance centers in Kuwait to 84 centers.

Dr Yaqoub Al-Tammar speaks at the event.

“The ministry is keen to expand ambulance centers in the country in order to reach people in emergency situations as soon as possible,“ said Tammar on the sidelines of a first-aid and CPR course held on Monday. Tammar also emphasized the importance of first-aid training courses in spreading health awareness and saving lives. “This is among the first of many courses to educate the masses about the importance of first aid,” he added, stressing the need to carry out these courses based on sound scientific foundations to preserve lives.

He said the ministry is looking forward to offering more of these training courses to achieve the goal of "a paramedic in every home". Tammar praised the role played by the heroes of emergency medicine who participate in educating citizens and residents on the importance of understanding the basics of first aid, which might seem simple for many but requires proper education.

The number of people graduating the training course, held at a real estate company, is 76, all of whom passed four modules, with two in English and two in Arabic, in three weeks. Director of the Emergency Medical Department Dr Ahmad Al-Shatti praised the efforts of the workers in the Emergency Medical Department in community service, stressing the importance of familiarity with these skills and keenness to spread them to achieve the slogan "Seven minutes save a life", as it is a message to trainees on how to deal with emergency cases to save a person.
