KUWAIT: Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah received, along with secretary general of Kuwait Institute for Medical Specialists Dr Ibrahim Hadi and head of heart diseases at the institute Prof Mohammad Zubaid a medical delegation from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. The minister said due to a generous donation by HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Sabah Al-Ahmad institute for treatment of irregular heartbeat in New York, and based on his initiatives during his previous visits, the Amir encouraged the institution to train Kuwaiti doctors. He emphasized on the importance of continued medical cooperation between the two sides, including exchange of expertise and information, especially in academic and research fields.


The health ministry coordinated with Mount Sinai and bilateral meetings were held to discuss the cooperation mechanism and sending doctors through the heart college at the institute for delicate specialties in heart disease. A memorandum of understanding was signed that included details of training, which is supposed to start in July 2019 to send Kuwaiti doctors for training for CT and MRI scans of the heart for two years, and it will include heart ultrasounds. The minister concluded his statement by thanking HH the Amir, who did not spare any effort or support to develop his country and ensure his people's prosperity at all levels.

Land allocation
An informed source said Municipality Minister Fahd Al-Shula is expected to reject Municipal Councilmembers' decision to approve the proposal of member Ali bin Sayer to allocate the land of Abu Halifa Park to the Public Authority for Housing Welfare for distribution to housing applicants because it does not agree with the technical opinion of the structural plan. The source said the executive apparatus explained in a memo to the council that the advisor specialized in modernizing and development of the fourth structural plan said the third structural plan recommended that no new residential areas be created in urban areas. The source said there is also a decision by the director general of Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources not to allow any takeover of lands allocated to it. Municipal councilmembers may, if minister Shula rejects the decision, use article 25 and send it to the Cabinet for consideration.
