Kuwait: Kuwaiti Health Minister Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi said on Saturday that it is essential to keep abreast of great advancement in technology, medical research and surgery by holding conferences to share expertise and knowledge.
The minister made the remark during the 18th conference of surgeries and Seventh Forum of the Board of General Surgery, held at the ministry today.
He added that the conference reflected the State's eagerness to do everything in order to achieve prosperity in the country.
The noted that the three-day event is one of the most important gatherings that highlight general surgery and surgery of abdominal wall, metabolism, obesity, colon and others.
The US embassy's Chargأ© d'Affaires James Holtsnider addressed the event by voicing pleasure to see this partnership and cooperation between the Kuwaiti health sector and world medical bodies, specifically American ones, to explore cutting-edge medical theories and surgical methods.
He pointed out the strong relationship and partnership between both military medical and civilian sectors, along with economic cooperation between US manufacturers of surgical tools and equipment and the Kuwaiti side in general. For his part, the conference's chairman and head of Kuwait Association of Surgeons, Dr. Mousa Khorshid said the gathering attracted over 400 conferees, in addition to the participation of 200 doctors in a workshop on research.
