KUWAIT: A study was being currently conducted in collaboration with the Ministries of Health and Interior to explore the feasibility of making health insurance mandatory for several categories of expats, high-ranking sources said.

The sources explained that the proposed insurance would cover all visitors coming to Kuwait be it family, tourists or visitors arriving on commercial visit visas.

Those applying to get temporary residencies and those notified to depart will also come under the purview of the mandatory insurance scheme.

The sources explained that the new insurance scheme is introduced with a view to keeping all the expats under the cover of health insurance during their stay in Kuwait. Such an insurance product was introduced in many countries and that it would help increase the state’s financial revenues as well. —Al-Anbaa
