KUWAIT: A consultative meeting of Gulf countries and Yemen has mulled an ambitious proposal to set up green schools in Gulf countries and Yemen as a part of the region’s efforts to promote sustainable development. The conferees have discussed a number of recommendations to put into effect the proposal, General Coordinator of the meeting Dr Ali Al-Kanderi said following the conclusion of the two-day event.
They also thoroughly debated a plan of action on the green schools projects, detailing the roles of the students, teachers, school administrations and local community, he said. Al-Kanderi added that the conferees reviewed a number of the stories of success of the eco-friendly projects in the region.
The outcome of the meeting, organized by the Kuwaiti national educational, scientific and cultural committee under the auspices of Minister of Education and Minister of Higher Education Dr Bader Al-Essa, would be formulated in a comprehensive report to be implemented by the participating countries. —KUNA
