RIYADH: Gulf Cooperation Council Ministry of Interior (MoI) undersecretaries held their preparatory meeting on Monday for the 39th gathering of interior ministers. Lt Gen Anwar Al-Barjas, Undersecretary of MoI, led the Kuwaiti delegation to the meeting, which discussed some topics of the agenda on boosting the joint GCC path.
The undersecretaries also dealt with some recommendations to refer them to the ministers for discussion in the next meeting. Speaking in the meeting, Al-Barjas lauded efforts made by the security sectors in all GCC member states to maintain security and stability in the Gulf nations. He stressed the necessity of backing security capabilities and boosting their readiness to overcome different challenges, mainly drug trafficking into the Gulf States that target "our youths".
In addition, he underlined the importance of intensifying efforts amongst the GCC security sectors through coordination and communication. Al-Barjas expressed appreciation to Saudi Arabia for good hospitality and coordination, and to the GCC Secretariat for its efforts in making successful meetings to ensure maintaining stability and security. - KUNA
