KUWAIT: A five-year-old child died after he fell from the window of his family's apartment on the fifth floor of a Hawally building, Al-Rai reported yesterday quoting security sources. Case papers indicate that Mubarak Hospital reported admitting a five-year-old Egyptian boy with serious head injuries and various fractures to the ICU, where he later died. According to the father's statement, the child was playing when he fell from the window, landing on the roof of the building's annex. A case was filed and further legal measures are ongoing.

KD 22 million
Criminal evidence detectives arrested an Arab businessman wanted for over KD 22 million in unpaid debts, Al-Anbaa reported, quoting sources familiar with the case. The suspect, whose visa had expired since July 2018, was ambushed in Dasma following investigations after detectives were tipped off about his whereabouts, and that he was hiding in a villa in the area. He was taken to the proper authorities for further action

Domestic violence
A Kuwaiti woman reported that her husband had beaten and insulted her over some family disputes, Al-Rai reported. Security sources said the woman provided Mubarak Al-Kabeer detectives with medical reports about the injuries she sustained. The sources added that the woman also provided detectives with her husband's information and that a case was filed pending summoning the man for further investigations.

Quarantined in Italy
Italian security authorities mandated a Kuwaiti to be quarantined in hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19 on docking in a harbor in southern Italy. Al-Rai learnt that the 71-year-old citizen was sailing a boat with a group of friends from Croatia to Nice, when they stopped at a southern Italian harbor for fuel and supplies. However, as part of precautionary measures followed in Italy, they were all tested to make sure they were free of the coronavirus. But the Kuwaiti man's test came positive and he was referred to the infectious diseases hospital in Catanzaro to be quarantined before resuming his cruise.

Yacht on fire
A fire broke out in yacht docked at Al-Zour marina, said security sources, noting that firemen managed to control the fire before it spread to other yachts. No casualties were reported and further investigations are in progress to determine the cause of the blaze, reported Al-Rai.

Police impersonator
An Indian reported that someone impersonating as a police detective threatened him and stole his wallet and mobile phone, security sources told Al-Rai. Case papers indicate that the victim told detectives at Salmiya police station that the suspect stopped him while he was driving and claimed to be a police detective. He added that the suspect then pointed a knife at him and took his wallet and mobile phone by force, before fleeing the scene. A case was filed and further investigations are in progress to identify and arrest the suspect.

Fraud case
A Kuwaiti woman filed a case at Adan police station against a Kuwaiti man, who she accused of taking KD 3,200 from her to allegedly invest in profitable projects, said security sources, noting that the woman said the suspect instead spent the money and didn't keep his promises. A fraud case was filed and the suspect is being summoned for further investigations, Al-Rai reported.
