KUWAIT: Salwa Al-Sabah Club First International Women Handball tournament began yesterday at the Club's hall and will continue until December 18th. The event was organized in cooperation with Kuwait Handball Association which provided the referees to officiate the tournament. Teams from Oman, Kuwait (Fatayat Al-Oyoun and Salwa Al-Sabah), Egypt (Ahli) and Bahrain teams are participating.

The tournament is the first to be held in Kuwait with international participation and will enhance the technical level of the players as they prepare for championships abroad. Tournament patron, Chairwoman of Salwa Al-Sabah Club Sheikha Naema Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah said "having such tournament with teams who have vast experience in women basketball will contribute to the development of the game and create an experienced generation of players."

Salwa Al-Sabah Club secretary Engr Rasha Al-Sayegh said the committees prepared well for the hosting of the tournament.  Al-Sayegh lauded the role of Sheikha Naema and her support. Salwa Al-Sabah Club coach Mohammad Mirza said his Club is ready for the tournament and players are expected to show good performance.
