Man beats up wife over WhatsApp messages

KUWAIT: Firefighters tackled a blaze which gutted a vehicle outside Khaitan police station yesterday. Meanwhile, firemen also extinguished a fire reported a Qadisiya house under construction. No injuries were reported in both incidents, while investigations went underway to reveal the causes of the fires.
In the meantime, faulty wiring in an air conditioning unit in two offices of civil aviation department at Kuwait International Airport caused some damage. A security source said smoke was noticed emanating from the offices, so the airport fire station was informed and they dealt with it swiftly. Separately, a sports car caught fire in Taima without causing injuries. Firemen dealt with the fire, which totally destroyed the car.

Body found
Hawally police responded to a call about an unconscious person in his vehicle in Zahra. Paramedics who arrived at the scene found he was dead, so forensics men arrived and transferred the body to the coroner.

Policeman injured
A traffic policeman sustained minor injuries during a collision on Jahra Road. Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and transferred the policeman to hospital.

Domestic violence
An expat in his 40s beat his wife so badly that he broke her knee. He said that he became furious when his wife wouldn't let him view WhatsApp messages she received on her phone. The wife refused to drop charges.

Questioning postponed
Sulaibiya police postponed the questioning of a man in his 50s and asked for an ambulance to transfer him to hospital out of fear for his life. The man had stab wounds, and a police patrol accompanied the ambulance to the hospital. Police were earlier surprised by the man bleeding from his head and abdomen, so an ambulance was called.
