KUWAIT: The house's living room heavily damaged by the fire.

KUWAIT: A Kuwaitiman died while five others were rescued from a fire that gutted a Surra houseyesterday, in the second deadly fire incident reported in the past two days.Firemen rushed to the scene and battled the blaze which started in theground-floor living room. They were able to rescue two women and threechildren, who were all in good condition, but firemen were too late to save theKuwaiti man who succumbed to his injuries.

The blaze was putout after the house was evacuated, Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) saidin a statement. The body of the victim, who was in his 50s, was handed over toCriminal Evidence Department men. Meanwhile, an investigation was opened todetermine the cause of the fire. Yesterday's fire was the second fatal fireincident reported in Kuwait in as many days, after a woman died in a blaze in aSulaibiya house on Sunday.

In the meantime,KFSD urged companies involved in the construction of road bridges to abide byfire prevention safety measures. This comes after a fire erupted earlier thismonth at the construction side of a bridge on Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al-NahyanRoad, also known as the Fifth Ring Road. The fire department's recent commentscame after a meeting between KFSD Director General Lt Gen Khaled Al-Mekrad andPublic Authority for Roads and Transportation's head Suha Ashkanani discussedensuring safety at construction sites, a press statement by KFSD read.
