KUWAIT: Kuwait and the GCC countries have prioritized the integration of artificial intelligence and digital transformation into their strategic agendas to achieve sustainable development by 2035. This initiative aligns with the government’s focus on leveraging smart technologies and digitization across various sectors. To secure a good position in the future digitally advanced world, Kuwait and the other GCC countries are opting to invest on this evolving field with the development of artificial intelligence.

The government has placed smart and digital transformation at the forefront of its priorities, implementing plans and strategies to position itself as a leader in technology and artificial intelligence globally. This step facilitates the exchange of knowledge and services on a global scale, especially with the recent pandemic, which further emphasized the importance of digital transformation.

During the opening ceremony, Omar Al-Omar, Chairman and CEO of CITRA, highlighted the transformative impact of digital services and artificial intelligence in the telecommunications and information sector. “Given the tremendous advancement in technology in the field of communications and information, along with the multitude of various programs for information exchange and the ease of access for users, the role of digital services and artificial intelligence comes into play and its impact on the world as a whole. What the current stage is witnessing forms the future in the telecommunications and information sector in all fields.

This is of great importance in the employment sector in Kuwait and the rest of the Gulf countries,” Al-Omar said. On his part, Sulaiman Al-Arouj, CEO of Empower Technology, emphasized the significance of artificial intelligence as a catalyst for innovation: “At the heart of technological development lies artificial intelligence as a key driver of innovations that reshape our future. Artificial intelligence presents an opportunity to enhance our capabilities and elevate our societies towards new horizons.”

He concluded with citing Islamic teachings that encourage learning and progress as guiding principles in development. The forum discussed the role of artificial intelligence in promoting sustainable development, practical applications within government entities and large corporations, various machine learning models, challenges and opportunities in AI applications, and the future implications on job landscapes. It also rewarded winners from Kuwait and GCC countries for their efforts in developing and integrating technological and AI advancement within the region.
