Expired food confiscated during municipality campaigns

KUWAIT: Kuwait Municipality's public relations department said that Mubarak Al-Kabeer municipality continued its inspection campaign on various foodstuff outlets and restaurants on the advent of Ramadan. Mubarak Al-Kabeer municipality's emergency team leader, Nasser Al-Hajri explained that the campaign resulted in closing down two stores, filing 20 citations for violations that include not having licenses, not advertising activity details, not having health certificates and selling expired foodstuff. Hajri added that 35 kilos of expired chocolate and meat were destroyed. Meanwhile, the municipality said that Jahra municipality carried out similar campaigns which resulted in confiscating and destroying half a ton of expired foodstuff, Jahra municipality emergency team leader Ali Al-Qowaissi said.
