KUWAIT: Throwing water balloons is considered a violation of the environment protection law in Kuwait, the environmental police said, noting that it is punishable by up to a KD 5,000 fine or three years in jail. The environmental police urged people to protect their children and follow the law during the national celebrations.
National celebration is a joyful moment for kids and adults in Kuwait. People are used to going on parades - throwing water balloons and spraying white foam on each other. Few years ago, the government banned the use of foam spraying during celebrations; so many people added another item to their celebration gear: water balloons. Earlier, the Ministry of Electricity and Water launched an awareness campaign against wasting water during national celebrations. Several people have complained of being attacked with the water balloons by children in different neighborhoods.
