KUWAIT: TheMinistry of Education's administrative sector is currently finalizing listsincluding the names of 1,000 expat employees who will be replaced by citizensduring the current academic year 2018-2019, said informed sources. The sourcesexplained that the employees due to be terminated by the end of June 2019include 300 teachers, 100 social workers and 600 service staff (office boys).The sources added the education sector has targeted the 300 teachers accordingto the subjects they teach, due to the abundance of Kuwaiti teachers of thesame subjects to replace them.

Job opportunities

Kuwait PetroleumCorporation (KPC) announced that the total number of citizens working for itwith degrees in petroleum and chemical engineering is 2,021 while expats areonly 329. KPC also announced that there are 750 job opportunities for citizensholding degrees in petroleum and chemical engineering starting with fiscal year2019-2010 until 2023-2024.

Stateless doctors

Health MinisterDr Basel Al-Sabah announced taking serious measures in collaboration withrelated bodies to resolve the problems faced by stateless doctors working forthe ministry. "The state needs those doctors," he stressed, pointingout that one of the suggested solutions is to enroll them to work for privatesector hospitals and medical centers. He added that he had already met a numberof stateless doctors and promised to resolve the problems they are facing.

Bone marrowtransplant

Al-Sabah MedicalZone Director Dr Abdul Aziz Al-Farhoud opened the blood diseases and bonemarrow transplant ward at Yaqoub Behbehani center after it was refurbished. Theopening ceremony was attended by Aqeel Yaqoub Behbehani. Kuwait Cancer ControlCenter (KCCC) Manager Dr Khloud Al-Ali said the ward includes eight beds and itserves bone marrow transplant patients aged 14 and above. She added that thenew ward will help boost bone marrow transplants, which began in Kuwait in 2011.

New trademarks

The Ministry ofCommerce and Industry (MoCI) announced that its trademarks and patent rightsdepartment received 2,552 applications to register new trademarks through itsweb portal in November.  The ministryannounced that it processed 924 trademark registration applications, 1,143applications to publish trademarks and 484 trademark registrations.

Property taxes

The secretariatof the Jordanian capital Amman announced that Kuwaitis' real estate, apartmentsand lands are exempted from fines on property taxes till the end of the year.In this regard, the secretariat's financial affairs manager Samer Yaseen saidthat the opportunity is open for all owners, including Kuwaitis, to benefitfrom the exemption provided they pay the tax in full, noting that the exemptionduring the first quarter of 2019 will drop to only 50 percent.
