KUWAIT: PlanetEarth cannot tolerate more destruction in the Amazon, a Kuwaiti meteorologistsaid yesterday, warning that "the globe's lungs are being burned."The Amazon forests are where 33 million people live along with 240 localindigenous Amazon communities, as well as 400,000 plant species, 370 reptilesand 300 types of marine life, Meteorologist Essa Ramadan said in a statementyesterday, adding that the Amazon rainforests are able to reduce global warmingand adapt to it.
On Kuwait'sweather, Ramadan said humidity is expected to continue until the weekend,adding that it may return at the start of September, which indicates a changein the weather. Yesterday marked the first day of the 'Suhail season', he said,adding the Suhail star (Canopus) is in the south of the Arabian Peninsula andwill be visible in Kuwait after September 5.
