KUWAIT: The criminal investigation department said that the juveniles protection department investigated a video circulated on social media and showing an Asian driver abusing a child. The department managed to identify and summon the driver, the maid seen in the video accompanying him and the child's parent, said security sources.
The sources added that both the driver and the maid said that they were only trying to contain the child's hyperactivity inside the vehicle for his own and their safety while driving, which was seconded by the parent who refrained from taking any legal actions towards the driver and the maid. Further, the Interior Ministry's relation and security media department accordingly urges all drivers not to allow children below 10 years of age to sit in the front passenger's seats.
Separately, the relation and security media department announced that in response to another social media video showing a reckless driver in Salwa, police patrols rushed to the area and managed to locate and arrest the driver and impound the vehicle he used.
Food shipment confiscated
The imported food department at the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition recently confiscated a spices' shipment arriving from the Philippines at Shuwaikh Port, which included chicken stock and natural and artificial flavors, said informed sources. According to ministerial resolution number 581 issued on August 30, 2017, there is a ban on importing chicken from the Philippines. The sources added that the shipment also lacked 'Halal' slaughtering certificates and was accordingly confiscated and destroyed.
Inspection campaign
Kuwait Fire Service Directorate's (KFSD) prevention sector teams yesterday launched an inspection campaign on buildings higher than 150 meters to make sure that all safety conditions were observed there. In this regard, KFSD's deputy director for prevention affairs Major General Khaled Abdullah Fahad said that KFSD is keen on making sure that such buildings match fire prevention and safety conditions. "We started by inspecting Al-Raya Tower, which is 300 meters high, and Crystal Tower, which is 250 meters high," Fahad added, noting that the campaign would periodically continue showing utmost cooperation with various companies and owners to accomplish the state's development projects swiftly and make sure they are safe.
