KUWAIT: Economic sources welcomed a ministerial decision by Minister of Commerce and Industry and State Minister for Economic Affairs Faisal Al-Medlej to add several modern commercial activities to the unified guide of economic activities in the GCC, including drive-in theaters. The sources, quoted in an Al-Qabas Arabic daily report yesterday, said this move will be well received by a large number of youth under the current circumstances.
The sources said drive-in theaters are a temporary solution on the path to return to normal life for cinemas, which were badly affected, and this will allow people to watch movies while complying with health protocols. Notably, Kuwait was the first Arab country to introduce drive-in cinemas in October 1974. The cinema was closed in 2002 and the building was demolished.
