KUWAIT: Kuwait customs foiled an attempt to smuggle 14,720 bottles of liquor into the country, a few days before the start of Eid Al-Fitr. Customs officers grew suspicious of a utensils container that arrived from a Gulf country. The container was searched carefully, and customs officers found nearly 1,240 cartons containing at total of 14,720 liquor bottles hidden inside, the Kuwait General Administration of Customs said in a statement.
Separately, a pickup truck driver died, and another person was injured in an accident reported on King Fahad Road. Firemen rushed to the scene in response to an accident pickup truck driver and a public transport bus. The bus passengers were evacuated while firemen used hydraulic equipment to free the driver's body and the injured passenger from the wrecked pickup truck.
