KUWAIT: Health Minister Sheikh Dr Basel Al-Sabah lamented that the number of coronavirus infections and fatalities in Kuwait still high. In his briefing during the Cabinet's weekly meeting Monday chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, the minister warned that the situation is delicate and urged all the public to register to get the vaccine to rein in the virus.
The cabinet called on citizens and residents to adhere to social distancing rules and other coronavirus precautionary measures, particularly avoiding crowds, to stop the spread of coronavirus and maintain the safety of all. The Cabinet also approved the Health Ministry's request to hire a fourth batch of Pakistani doctors, nurses and medical workers.
The Ministry of Health had Monday announced 1,635 new coronavirus infections and five related deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the total cases up to 248,729 and deaths to 1,412 respectively. Ministry spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad pointed out that 1,316 people had been cured of the virus over the same period, raising the total of those to have overcome the disease to 232,556.
He added that the number of people hospitalized with the virus stood then at 14,761, with 228 of them in intensive care units. He renewed calls for the public to abide by health precautions to curb the spread of the virus. - KUNA
