KUWAIT: The high court's criminal circuit cross-examination into the terrorist cell case, involving 26 suspects, resumed yesterday with the court summoning coroners to listen to their testimonies. The court had summoned, during the previous session held on October 13th, the ballistics officer who testified to the presiding judges. On October 6th, it listened to the criminal inspection officer in a closed-door session.
On October 4th, the court refused to release defendants and listened to the State security officer, who was summoned to testify in a secret hearing. The court freed four of the accused on a KD 500 bail, but banned them from travel and compelled the defendants to attend next sessions. There are 26 persons charged with the case. They are all Kuwaitis, except for a single Iranian. The court held the first hearing on September 15. The Public Prosecution has called for pre-trial detention of all the suspects, accused of carrying out hostile acts against the State of Kuwait, with possession of firearms, guns, ammunition and eavesdropping devices.
