KUWAIT: Many citizens and expatriates have been scammed after paying to receive their shipments. This new scam is widespread in Kuwait, even as the ministry of communications emphasized that it never sends messages or emails to people to ask them to pay to receive their shipments. The scammers use the name of the ministry of communications with its official logo to appear authentic and gain people's trust.
The message reads: "You have a parcel, and you need to pay KD 2 in postal fees through the attached link." After paying online with your credit card, it says you will receive your parcel the next morning. The link is only valid for 24 hours. The ministry of communications has warned people not to open the link or pay the fees, even if they are actually expecting a parcel. By entering the card information, the scammer will get your bank data to clear your account.
