Service a first in Kuwait uses innovative QR code technology

KUWAIT: As part of digitizing all banking services for its customers, Commercial Bank of Kuwait (CBK) has announced the launch of its innovative service, a first in Kuwait and the region, 'Tijari Pay' to transfer money using QR Code technology.

During a press conference that was held yesterday at JW Marriott Hotel, General Manager of CBK Retail Banking, Hameed Salman, explained the Bank's strategy and vision in terms of developing customer-centric banking services and utilizing modern technology to provide innovative banking services. Also, the concept of self-service in its branches where it is one of the first Kuwaiti banks that automate the majority of banking transactions, which contributed to providing fast and improved service to satisfy customers.

Salman reviewed the Bank's recent achievements emphasizing the bank's strategic direction towards digital transformation, including self-service banking for all branches across its branch network to carry out withdrawals, transfers, deposit of checks and other banking transactions with the uniqueness of the implementation of 'SMART QUEUING' technology. He also elaborated on other banking services through 'virtual service - KIOSK Virtual Banking' technology, to enable customers to open accounts themselves, update banking data, request bank certificates, request credit cards, and other services.

CBK is the first bank in Kuwait to launch a 'video banking' service, where customers can connect to the bank via video through their smartphones to complete banking operations or to inquire about any transaction.

Bader Qamhiyeh, Acting General Manager, IT Department, addressed the technological and security aspects of the bank's services through a secure and sophisticated platform.

He gave a presentation on how to use this service and explained that any person or company can easily validate the documents by scanning QR code with the CBK mobile application available on the Androids and IOS gadgets, pointing out that this service includes a large number of documents such as account statement, balance certificate, and other documents.

Khalil Al-Qattan, Head of Digital Banking, reviewed some of the commercial banking services that distinguish CBK from other banks and offer the customer an easy, flexible and secure banking experience. 'Tijari Pay' is a unique and innovative service that offers a variety of payment and collection options among 'Tijari Pay' users. The users can also pay or collect money by scanning the QR code and downloading the code on their smartphones easily, securely and quickly to complete the transaction. This service is free and does not include any transaction fee.

The CBK officials thanked the participants and assured the customers that they will continue their efforts to provide more advanced digital banking services that meet the latest technological standards and provide customers with easy, flexible and safe banking transactions.
