KUWAIT: China’s Table Tennis players swept the titles of Kuwait 12th International Table Tennis Tournament (Salwa Cup) by winning all final matches yesterday, at the conclusion of the tournament in which 185 players from 35 countries participated.
Representative of HH the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Amiri Diwan advisor Sheikh Fahad Saad Al-Abdallah handed the winners their prizes.
The number 2 seed in the tournament Jike Zhong, defeated his compatriot the number 1 seed Long Ma by a score of 4-1, while on the women’s side Xiaoxia Li took the women’s singles title by defeating Nign Dign with a score of 4-1 also.
Players Xin Xu and Jike Zhang took the doubles title by defeating Peng Tank and Kit Kewan Ho by a score of 3-1 while on the women’s side Ning Ding and Shiwen Liu defeated Xiaoxia Li and Yuling Zhu by a score of 3-0.
Deputy Chairperson of the Organizing Committee Sheikha Naeema Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber appreciated HH the Amir’s patronage of the tournament making it one of the most important sports gathering in this particular game and thanked the representative of HH the Amir for his attendance.
Sheikha Naeema said the support of Information Minister, State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Al-Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah, and Director General of Sports Public Authority Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour had a major role in making it a success.
