KUWAIT: 1957 -- Sulaiman Khaled Al-Adsani, the first director of Kuwait Municipality in 1930, passes away at age of 73. He was also a member in the Municipal Council in 1938, the Legislative Council in 1938, and member in the Maaref (knowledge) Council (1936-1954). The late Adsani, also a poet, was one of the founders of the Public Library.

1963 -- Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah outlines, in a statement before the National Assembly, Kuwait’s foreign policy, affirming that it is part of the Arab nation.

1965 -- Al-Tadhamon Sporting Club officially launches and based in Farwaniya Area.

1966 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah signs an agreement with Saudi Arabia regarding boundaries over the divided zone.

1986 -- Kuwait Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah opens the state’s Grand Mosque and performs Eid Al-Fitr prayers. The KD-13-million mosque was built over 45,000 square meters.

1999 -- UN Secretary General Kofi Annan appoints Kuwaiti diplomat Maryam Al-Awadhi as Deputy Executive Secretary General of the economic group of West Asian countries, the most senior position occupied by an Arab woman in the UN.

 2003 -- State of Kuwait announces discovery of remains of Saad Mishal Al-Enezi, a national kidnapped by invading Iraqi forces in November 1990, in a mass grave in Samawah city near Baghdad, Iraq.

2004 -- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) was elected member in the Executive Bureau of the Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) for a three-year term. The election took place during OANA’s General Assembly meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

2010 -- National Assembly speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi cancels an interpellation against Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah because the MP questioning him, Khaled AlTahous, was not present at the session, which was held behind closed doors.

2016 -- Kuwait joins the Patent Cooperation Treaty in Geneva. — KUNA
