Australian plane plot may have involved bomb or gas: Reports

Kerala Art Lovers Association (KALA) Kuwait’s Film Society held a micro film festival which was inaugurated by renowned Malayalam film actor Irshad Ali. “Tears of Desert” directed by Ratheesh C V Ammas won the Best Film award at the 7th Micro Film Festival, which showcased 75 short films. ‘Alien’ directed by Rajeev Devanandan won the second Best Film award. Ratheesh C V Ammas was selected as the best director for the film ‘Tears of Desert’ and Rajeev Devanandan, who wrote the script for the film ‘Alien’ was selected as the best script writer. Ratheesh won the best cinematography award also for the film while Jinto won the best editor award for the film ‘Job’.

Devanandan won the best art director award for the film ‘Tears of Desert’. Suresh Kattakkada, who gave his best performance in the film ‘Witness’ won the best actor award, while Ramya Ratheesh, who acted in the film ‘Astiv’ and Jijuna Menon, who acted in the film ‘Kanal’, shared the best actress award. Mazha Jitesh, who acted in the films ‘Smartha Vicharam’ and ‘Kanal’, won the best child artist award. Ridhika Srikanth and Ruhani Ratheesh, who directed the ‘Love and Care’ bagged the special jury award.

Renowned film critic GP Ramachandran announced the winners. The awards ceremony for the winners of the festival and the Dubs Mash & One Minute Short Film winners organized by Kala Kuwait Film Society were held at the venue by micro film festival guests Irshad Ali, GP Ramachandran and KALA Kuwait office-bearers.

The program was presided over by Kala Kuwait President Anup Mangat at Indian Central School Abbasiya KALA Art Wing Secretary Nishant George presented a condolence motion expressing condolences on the demise of renowned playback singer P Jayachandran.

Loka Kerala Sabha member R Naganathan spoke on the occasion and offered his greetings. KALA Kuwait General Secretary Saji Thomas Mathew welcomed the gathering and Micro Film Festival General Convener Ajith Pattamana expressed his gratitude. Film critic GP Ramachandran, KALA Kuwait Vice President Richie K George, Joint Secretary Bijoy, Kala Kuwait Film Society Convener Sajeev Manthanam were also present on the occasion.
