KUWAIT: The Australian Ambassador to Kuwait, Melissa Kelly, affirmed the strength of the bilateral relations between Kuwait and Australia at the governmental and peoples levels, stressing her enthusiasm to work on raising the level of these relations in various possible fields. This came during Ambassador Kelly’s reception - on the occasion of Australia Day - of Sheikh Mubarak Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, vice-chairman of Action Group Holdings.

During the meeting, mutual common issues were discussed - in a personal capacity - and means to enhance mutual investments, opportunities and bilateral relations in all fields, especially in the areas of investment, tourism and educational sectors. The Australian ambassador expressed her affection for Kuwait, pointing out that she holds a special fondness for it, praising what she sensed from Sheikh Mubarak of initiatives and careful follow-up of Australian affairs, and his enthusiasm for Kuwaiti participation in the Australian market.

For his part, Sheikh Mubarak affirmed his interest in the Kuwaiti-Australian bilateral relations, especially since Australia is a friendly country that was at the forefront of the countries participating in the war to liberate Kuwait.  It also has a long history in bilateral economic and educational relations with the State of Kuwait, as it had active contributions in the fields of science and the establishment of universities.

Sheikh Mubarak said that he is keen to increase means of cooperation and growth of Kuwaiti investments in Australia, stressing the need to reduce barriers in the commercial sectors, and improve relations between businessmen in both countries, and to advance the bonds of friendship and mutual historical relationship to broader horizons.
