KUWAIT: Chances of rain this winter are expected to be lower than average, said Meteorologist Issa Ramadan. He added that Kuwait and the Middle East region were affected in the first part of winter this year by an abnormally warm winter, as high and low temperatures were above average. Ramadan expected this winter to remain relatively warm, until Jan 22, as temperatures are expected to drop after that. The weather is expected to become gradually warmer in February.

Ramadan said that the region was affected by warm air masses from the south of the Arabian Peninsula and the Arabian Sea and stationary air fronts. He pointed out that the cause of this phenomenon is climate change as well as the impact of the El Nino phenomenon, which has affected the movement of air masses and atmospheric systems in general.

“Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and other regions have been affected by weak air fronts, which led to a lack of rainfall as well as the impact of the very cold Siberian winds this winter,” he said.
