KUWAIT: The Kuwait Society for Preventing Smoking and Cancer (KSPSC) won second place at the Arab Prize for Fighting Smoking (first edition, 2023). “This prize is for the best non-government society in terms of awareness about smoking in the Arab world,” said Dr Khalid Ahmad Al-Saleh, Chairman of the Board of the Kuwait Society for Preventing Smoking and Cancer. He said the society is proud of winning the award in its first edition as the best non-government society in the field of smoking awareness in the Arab world.
The prize is an initiative of the Arab Union for Humanities and Development, which includes a large group of success partners, including the Council of Arab Economic Unity, the International Society for Preventive Coronary Medicine, the Arab Medical Association Against Cancer and KSPSC. It aims at consolidating efforts against smoking while encouraging creativity and innovation in confronting it.
This award is the result of Kuwait’s interest in fighting smoking and its actions at the government and private levels. The society submitted its report, which included its activities under the umbrella of the Social Affairs Ministry, which has been supporting the society since 1980. The aim of the programs, conferences, campaigns, and initiatives is to spread awareness about smoking. The honoring ceremony was held in Ismailiyah, Egypt, in the presence of a large number of dignitaries.
