KJA and PAAET conclude six-week training program on educational media

KUWAIT: Kuwait Journalists Association (KJA) and Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) successfully concluded their joint training program, spanning six separate weeks with a total of 90 training hours. The program, focused on educational media, took place at the Ibn Al-Haytham Center from October and was marked by an honoring ceremony attended by KJA President Adnan Al-Rashed.

Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, Deputy Director General for Training at PAAET, described the educational media program as the first of its kind, emphasizing its strategic partnership with KJA and the management under the Ibn Al-Haytham Center. Tabtabaei expressed satisfaction with the program’s success, particularly highlighting the enthusiastic participation of students and the evident joy among the graduates. He noted that this collaboration marked the first of many, hinting at future programs in areas like military and health media.

Rashed underscored the significance of the partnership with PAAET. He emphasized that this collaboration stemmed from the initiative of Tabtabaei and the participation of Dr Hassan Al-Jajam, the Director of PAAET. Rashed stated that the training program aimed to strengthen community partnerships, with a particular focus on supporting and training employees in educational and academic institutions in the realm of educational media.

Rashed acknowledged the association’s efforts in preparing for the session and its success in collaboration with PAAET. He pointed out previous attempts to conduct similar courses in cooperation with the ministry of education and commended PAAET’s proactive involvement in supporting and embracing the course.

Highlighting KJA’s commitment to serving the community and its institutions, Rashed affirmed the continuation of targeted courses to train press workers and promote press institutions, both in the government and private sectors. Hamad Al-Hamad, Director of the Ibn Al-Haytham Center, confirmed the success of the educational media program. He noted that the program, consisting of 90 training hours, included workshops, lectures and field visits. Hamad praised the competence of the lecturers and the dedication of the trainees, with 18 graduates representing various educational institutions in Kuwait.

Fatima Al-Azmi, the supervisor and coordinator of the educational media training program, highlighted the comprehensive nature of the six-week training period. She detailed the topics covered, including journalistic arts relevant to public relations and media practitioners. Azmi pointed out the diverse subjects covered, such as educational media, methods of dealing with the public, preparing media campaigns, press interviews, emergency plans, rumor response and refutation and the qualification of official spokespersons. All graduates received certificates equivalent to diplomas.

Azmi emphasized the planned expansion of specialized programs in military media, health, environmental and oil media. She encouraged government agencies to participate in these programs to enhance the expertise and skills of their workers in various media fields. Dr Mohammed Al-Jabali, delivering the graduates’ speech, expressed his pleasure and appreciation for the program. He described it as a rich scientific experience and a rare academic vision, representing an aspiration for a prosperous future in the field of educational media.
