KUWAIT: The Director of the Public Health Department at the Ministry of Health, Dr Fahad Al-Ghamlas, said that Kuwait is one of the most distinguished countries in the world in terms of the diagnosis and treatment of AIDS. In a statement to reporters on the sidelines of the Ministry’s celebration on the occasion of World AIDS Day on Saturday, Al-Ghamlas said that the aim of the celebration is to communicate with the community and to pass a message about the disease in terms of prevention and treatment.
“The event is based on three main topics: shedding light on ways of prevention and treatment, dealing with societal stigma, and finally early diagnosis,” he explained, stressing the keenness to deal with patients with great confidentiality and respect. He pointed out the importance of including Aids patients in society and taking into account not to exaggerate their fear of them.
Al-Ghamlas underlined the importance of early diagnosis and full treatment of patients. He added that the Health Ministry has doctors and specialists in the diagnosis and treatment of the disease at the highest levels and is keen on vocational training and continuing medical education. — KUNA
