CAIRO: A delegation from the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS), headed by the Society’s Vice President Anwar Al-Hasawi visited the Rafah land crossing on Tuesday to monitor the entry of Kuwaiti humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. Al-Hasawi said in a statement to KUNA that the purpose of the visit is to supervise the entry of aid into the Gaza Strip in cooperation with the Egyptian Red Crescent in preparation for its delivery to the people of the Strip who deserve it. Al-Hasawi added that during the visit, the delegation followed the entry of 35 trucks loaded with 490 tons of emergency humanitarian medical and relief aid to be delivered.
He pointed out that during the visit, the delegation will inspect the wounded and injured who were evacuated from Gaza to Al-Arish hospitals to determine their needs to provide them with the necessary relief aid.
Al-Hasawi explained that the delegation will be briefed on the ground about the possibility of establishing a Kuwaiti field hospital inside Sinai near the border with Gaza and equipping it with the required equipment and adequate number of beds to accommodate the increasing number of injured people as a result of the Zionist aggression.
The total aid provided by Kuwait to the Gaza Strip until Tuesday amounted to about 1,300 tons, which included medical and food supplies, tents and chairs, in addition to about 40 ambulances equipped with full medical equipment under the cooperation protocol signed by the Kuwaiti Red Crescent and its Egyptian counterpart at the beginning of this month.
Meanwhile, the 30th plane within the Kuwait relief air bridge took off Tuesday heading to the Egyptian city of Al-Arish, carrying 10 tons of winter necessities to be delivered to Gaza Strip.
This initiative was organized by Al-Salam Society for Humanitarian and Charitable Works, the International Islamic Charitable Organization (IICO), the Egyptian Red Crescent and its Palestinian counterpart, with the help of the Kuwaiti ministries of social, defense and foreign affairs.
General Director for Al-Salam Society and member of the board for the IICO Dr. Nabil Al-Aoun told KUNA before the plane’s take-off that this is considered a complete relief stage due to the conditions on all levels in the Gaza Strip. He indicated that the plane, dispatched at the request of the Palestinian Red Crescent, boarded 10 tons of tents, blankets and winter clothes, urgently needed for the Gazans at the winter onset.
Kuwaiti Ambassador to Egypt Ghanim Al-Ghanim announced Monday that Kuwait has so far dispatched a total of 1,300 tons of humanitarian aid to the war-ravaged Gaza Strip. In his statement to KUNA, Al-Ghanim mentioned that the aid convey has been facilitated by the Red Crescent societies of Kuwait and Egypt, while also thanking them for such a task operation of 35 truckloads to be headed towards the Egyptian city of Al-Arish before heading to Gaza through Rafah crossing.
Al-Ghanim also noted the sum of aid provided amounts to 1,300 tons transported via trucks (500 tons) and 28 planes (800 tons) through the air bridge facilitated by Kuwait with more to be provided. Dr. Musaed Al-Enezi, Advisor to the Kuwait Red Crescent Society said the political leadership has been forefront on aiding the Palestinians and alleviating their sufferings thanks to the local populace and the charitable societies. — KUNA
