KUWAIT: As part of its dedication to fostering positive change in the Kuwaiti community, Burgan Bank is proud to announce its participation in the annual two-week United Nations (UN) campaign, Orange the World, aimed at raising awareness and combating gender-based violence. Symbolically using the color to signify a brighter future for women and girls, Burgan will light its headquarters up in orange, alongside other state-owned buildings in Kuwait.

The values of the international campaign align seamlessly with the Bank’s social responsibility, as well as its support of the government’s efforts to achieve the fifth goal of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as part of the national development plan and the vision of a New Kuwait 2035. Expressing her enthusiasm about joining the campaign for another year, Hessa Hussain Al-Najadah, Senior Manager - Corporate and CSR Communications at Burgan Bank, said: "At Burgan, we believe that by standing together, we can make a real difference in the lives of those affected by gender-based violence.

Our participation in the UN’s ‘Orange the World’ campaign is a testament to our unwavering commitment to building a safer and more equitable world for everyone, and to empowering women as vital building blocks of a developed society.” Al-Najadah added: "Burgan Bank is committed to strengthening and advancing the contributions of women in society and advocating for their rights.

Our ongoing efforts focus on providing unwavering support to women as we strive to foster a sustainable future that hinges on the assurance of equal opportunities for women’s progress. We start by implementing these principles within our organization and its culture, ensuring that all our staff members enjoy equal opportunities and privileges, free from any form of discrimination.”

The "Orange the World” campaign, part of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declaration to abolish violence against women and girls, takes place annually from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10, the International Human Rights Day. It seeks to shed light on the physical, emotional, and psychological harm gender-based violence causes, and to mobilize individuals, organizations, and communities to take action against it.

This campaign also seeks to support countries globally in their efforts to attain SDGs related to women, encompassing the empowerment of women, strengthening their rights, and enhancing their societal position. Additionally, it aims to increase awareness of women’s crucial role in the development process. As part of its comprehensive social responsibility program, Burgan Bank is committed to leveraging its influence and resources to support human rights initiatives and campaigns.

The Bank also demonstrates a keen commitment to bolstering various development initiatives in Kuwait, affirming its continuous support for the contributions made by all stakeholders towards development, ultimately benefiting the broader Kuwaiti society.
