Kuwait: In line with its ongoing commitment to fostering a digitally skilled national workforce, Zain hosted a group of graduate students from Kuwait University's Department of Information Science, College of Life Sciences, for a special tour of its Subahiya datacenter. The insightful visit provided the students with a firsthand understanding of Zain's cutting-edge infrastructure and its role in supporting Kuwait's digital transformation journey.
As the future of education and the economy rapidly accelerates towards digital transformation, Zain has made it a priority to contribute to upskilling young minds in data and ICT through such initiatives. The insightful field trip enriched the students’ understating of various topics in data and ICT. It started with an introduction to Zain’s long history of successes that started four decades ago when it became the first mobile operator in the Middle East region. In addition, the students learned about some of the best digital services and world-class solutions the company provides to the local market.
Afterwards, the students toured Zain’s renowned Subahiya datacenter, learning about its various use cases from a technical perspective. The tour covered how the datacenter’s servers and other equipment are operated and managed, with an overview of cloud computing devices and the innovative technologies behind them. The students were also briefed on the best practices and procedures Zain follows, and how it implements world-class cybersecurity tools to protect data.
Zain’s datacenter is the only facility of its kind in Kuwait’s ICT industry that has been certified with the Tier III certification from Uptime Institute - the IT industry's most trusted and adopted global standard for the proper design, build and operation of data centers. The datacenter has also received a license to offer cloud computing services from the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) to offer the latest cloud computing services and solutions to corporate and government customers in the Kuwaiti market.
