RunKuwait longest running charity race in Kuwait

KUWAIT: Fawzia Sultan Healthcare Network (FSHN) has successfully concluded the 11th edition of its annual RunKuwait Charity Race. As the primary fundraising initiative of FSHN, this event champions its non-profit mission to facilitate access to essential child healthcare services for families. The race began at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Murouj, with extensive participation.

FSHN said: “Every year, our goal is to enhance RunKuwait, with a keen focus on raising awareness about our non-profit mission. Recognized as the longest-running charity race in Kuwait, this event owes its success to the unwavering support over eleven consecutive years. This commitment is crucial for us to continue providing necessary clinical care to children in need, either for free or at a subsidized cost.”

FSHN added: “Thanks to our mission and the community’s overwhelming support, we are able to offer free treatment to 30% of children in need at our Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center. We take pride in our high-quality healthcare services, administered by a team renowned for their academic credentials, extensive experience, and crucial clinical skills, in line with international clinical standards.”

We eagerly anticipate furthering this partnership, aiming to expand its scope in future endeavors, to achieve the non-profit objectives of Fawzia Sultan Healthcare Network.”

This year’s RunKuwait Charity Race was backed by Murouj, Agility, AUK - American University of Kuwait, Kuwait Proteins Company (Alpro, Quest, Vieve), Sultan, Chery Alghanim, KDD, Ali Abdulwahab Al Mutawa, Intersport, GULF INSURANCE GROUP (GIG), Kuwait Financial Centre “Markaz”, ASAR - Al Ruwayeh & Partners, Kuwait Hospital, Alshall Consulting Co., Al Nibras schools, Diet Care, Hiit Fit Transformation, Aquafina, Below Zero, Al-Rai Newspaper, Al-Anba Newspaper, Al-Seyassah Newspaper, Al-Jarida newspaper, Kuwait Times, Kuwait News.

The event expanded this year to include a full family day with numerous activities, and for the first time, children were encouraged to participate in a 1K run. The inclusion of children not only added enjoyment to the event, but also reinforced the spirit of community and solidarity.

A key highlight at the event was the introduction of an awareness program through the ‘Teddy Bear Clinic’, which aims to make clinical visits less intimidating for children. In this innovative program, children engaged in a mock clinic, aiding in the treatment of teddy bears under the supervision of FSHN’s clinical team. The program aims to acquaint children with how to manage basic health concerns such as in order to enhance their self-reliance.

Acknowledging the athletic achievements, FSHN stated: “The winners in various categories for the 5KM & 10KM races were honored, with outstanding performances from Haya Al-Refai and Abdulrahman Al-Kanderi in the 10KM, and Haya Al-Fares and Fahad Al-Azmi in the 5KM races. Every participant, whether competing or supporting the cause, received a medal at the finish line, joining in the day’s festive sports activities.”
