Researcher displays rare pictures of King Charles III’s visit to Kuwait

KUWAIT: Essa Dashti, a researcher in Kuwaiti-British relations and holder of the British Empire Medal (BEM), on Tuesday displayed rare pictures of King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s visit to Kuwait back in 2007. This came at the inauguration of his personal exhibition in Kuwait National Library under the patronage of Sheikha Hanaa Bader Al-Sabah and the attendance of British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis.

Speaking to KUNA, Dashti said that he held the exhibition on the occasion of King Charles III’s birthday, on November 14, noting that most of the exhibition’s 40 photos are displayed for the first time. He added that the images include meetings and visits to Grand Mosque in Kuwait, Kuwait Association for the Care of Children Hospital in Kuwait, Sadu House and dinner banquet held in their honor by Sheikha Sherefa Al-Jassem.

The exhibition also displays historical moments between King Charles III and Late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and former Parliament speaker Jassem Al-Kharafi, Dashti added. The photos highlight the depth and strength of Kuwaiti-British relations, Dashti noted, stressing that these relations are of great importance in enhancing cooperation and cultural and economic exchange between the two countries. Dashti holds the British Empire Medal (BEM) granted to him by Queen Elizabeth II in recognition of his efforts in documenting developing, strengthening and supporting relations between the two countries. — KUNA
