Amiri Hospital opens new pediatric ICU

KUWAIT: Within the framework of providing specialized health services to citizens and improving their quality, the Amiri Hospital inaugurated the new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit to provide curative care services for critically ill children. The new service is a qualitative addition to the pediatric department at the hospital which is provided by a medical team specialized in pediatric intensive care.

For her part, the Head of the Pediatrics Department at the Amiri Hospital, Dr Wafaa Al-Ateeqi, announced that the unit has received about 20 children so far with critical cases that require admission to intensive care, including cases suffering from difficulty breathing such as asthma allergy, severe infections, and some other diseases. “Work is underway to raise the capacity of the unit, during the second operational phase,” Dr Al-Ateeqi said praising the level of equipment that includes the latest medical devices and equipment.

Dr Al-Ateeqi also hailed the support of Minister of Health Dr Ahmad Al-Awadhi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry, Dr Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi, and the management of Al-Amiri Hospital to start operating the unit, expressing her full confidence in the medical team in the unit, which is at a high level of qualification, including specialized doctors, nursing staff, pharmacists, technicians, and other colleagues from the allied medical professions, wishing all patients good health and safety.
