KUWAIT: Deputy Director General of the Educational and Rehabilitation Services Sector and the official spokesman of the Public Authority for People with Disabilities Mubarak Al-Baddah confirmed on Monday that the involvement and integration of persons with disabilities in activities and events are among the priorities of the authority, as they organized the 6th rehabilitation workshop titled "Made by My Hands".
Baddah said after the rehabilitation workshops organized by the Integrated Care Foundation for People with Disabilities that various rehabilitation and training programs contribute to the psychological and social stability of persons with disabilities. Furthermore, economic independence helps dispel misconceptions and boosts self-confidence.r"Increasing levels of interaction and community participation contribute to breaking the barrier of fear and misunderstanding associated with people with different disabilities, which in turn enhances their communication skills and improves their overall health," he added.
Director General of the Foundation Meshal Shaman emphasized the institution's commitment to developing the capabilities of its employees, recognizing them as valuable members of society. "The training and rehabilitation services provided by the institution, which encompasses over 439 students, aim to integrate and involve people with disabilities and provide them with the skills needed for various crafts and professions, allowing them to overcome their disabilities, contribute productively and face the challenges of the workforce," he said.
Shaman also mentioned the "Made by My Hands" rehabilitation workshops focus on producing a wide range of products and handicrafts, including accessories, gift boxes, ornaments, paintings, various drawings, bedspreads and other items created by the institution's employees.
