KUWAIT: The College of Education team clinched victory in the Kuwait University Colleges Debate League Championship for the academic year 2023/2024, marking its ninth edition in Arabic. They achieved this by defeating the College of Arts team in the final round. The debate topic revolved around “This council believes that boycotting companies only harms the local agent.” The draw determined the roles of the two teams, with the College of Education taking the opposition role and the College of Arts the role of loyalty.
The championship’s final competitions took place under the patronage and in the presence of Prof Meshari Al-Harbi, Acting Director of Kuwait University. The event was hosted at the Roman Theater within the College of Life Sciences at Sabah Al-Salem University City on Wednesday. A significant number of Kuwait University faculty members were in attendance.
Prof Harbi expressed his pride in the students’ outstanding performance during the ninth edition of the debate league competitions. He highlighted the students’ ability to embrace diverse opinions, respect others’ viewpoints and engage in meaningful debates. This, he emphasized, reflects the high level of cultural awareness among the university’s exceptional students.
Furthermore, Dr Al-Harbi underscored the university’s commitment to fostering a wide range of student activities, supervised by the Deanship of Student Affairs. The university’s debate league is one such activity that harnesses students’ energies, enriches the student community with valuable skills and talents and hones the experiences necessary for their personal and academic development. These activities serve as a complement to the overall educational process.
