CAIRO: The President of the Kuwait Weightlifting Federation, Talal Al-Jassar, expressed pride in the players of the Kuwait national team, who won 32 various medals in the Arab Championship for men and women, which concluded on Tuesday in the Egyptian capital Cairo.
Al-Jassar told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) on Wednesday after the arrival of the Kuwaiti delegation participating in the tournament to the country that the Kuwaiti team was able to occupy this advanced position in the tournament after strong competitions with 19 participating teams, knowing that the host Egyptian team was crowned the title while Algeria came third.
He explained that what contributed to this achievement was the outstanding level shown by the Kuwait national team players by achieving 19 medals through the players Malak Al-Haddad (gold and bronze), Amal Mesaieed (3 silver), Abrar Al-Fahd (3 silver), Fatima Al-Balushi (3 bronze), Hanan Al-Amir (3 bronze), Hanouf Al-Mejren (two bronze), Zahraa Kamshad (one bronze) and Zainab Al-Mohammed (two bronze).
He stated that the blue weightlifters also won 13 medals in the championship through Hamid Akbar (three silvers), Mohammed Al-Mullah (two silvers and one bronze), Hussein Munshid (three bronze), Fahd Al-Otaibi (one bronze) and Ali Shams (three bronze).
Al-Jassar praised the performance of Kuwait’s champions in the championship, especially the promising champion Malak Al-Haddad, who was crowned gold in the -45 kg competition for the cubs category, in a wonderful achievement for her and her country, dedicating this remarkable victory to the country’s political leadership and the Kuwaiti weightlifting family.
He considered that these great achievements of the Kuwaiti champions will motivate them to achieve more of them in the upcoming events, especially since most of them are young and have a brilliant future ahead of them in the game, stressing the Federation’s endeavor to support its players of both sexes to achieve the best results in foreign tournaments. — KUNA
