KUWAIT: Cancer Aware Nation (CAN) Board of Director and Executive Committee Member, and in charge of Breast Cancer Awareness campaign Dr Hussa Al-Shaheen said the campaign is keen on including sports initiatives and activities in its October “Your Health is your Capital”, campaign to promote the importance of practicing sports which reduces the risks of getting many chronic diseases including cancer diseases, and that is why a friendly basketball match was held to increase awareness of women in general about the importance of sports to maintain their health, as well as those women in remission in particular to encourage them to join the society and strengthen their psychological aspect and urge them to take good care of their health.

Dr Hussa spoke during a basketball match which came under activities of the awareness month of breast cancer under the patronage of Social Affairs and Family Affairs Minister Sheikh Firas Saud Al-Sabah.

She also called upon ladies to join Haido team of CAN, which was formed this year to support women in physical activity. Meanwhile, member of the team that supports CAN campaign that the smile on the faces of members of CAN’s team who are in remission reflects their enthusiasm and eagerness to participate in the game, which they won by the score of 18-16. All players were recognized, while Mai Al-Ali who recovered from cancer said the match brought back memories as she used to play the sport in the past.
