Kuwait and Tunisia discuss human rights, social development

TUNIS: Assistant Foreign Minister for Human Rights Affairs Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher Ibrahim Duaij Al-Sabah held talks with Tunisian Minister of Family, Women, Children and the Elderly Asma Al-Jabri on ways to bolster cooperation between Kuwait and Tunisia in various social and human rights fields. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the high-level Arab regional gathering convened in the Tunisian capital in preparation for the Second World Summit for Social Development, set to be held in Doha this November.

Discussions focused on exchanging expertise and best practices in issues related to women, children, family welfare and elderly care. As part of her visit, Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher toured the Center for Research, Studies, Documentation and Information on Women (CREDIF), which chronicles the historical and contemporary contributions of Tunisian women.

She also visited the National Observatory for Combating Violence against Women, where she was briefed on the institution’s methodologies for addressing reported abuse cases and the mechanisms in place for data collection and analysis used to inform national strategies. Ambassador Sheikha Jawaher commended the observatory’s role in protecting women and praised CREDIF’s efforts in preserving the legacy of Tunisian women and highlighting their significant achievements throughout history. — KUNA
