KUWAIT: Minister of Communications Omar Al-Omar on Saturday emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to update and improve the Sahel government application. He said such efforts should reflect the aspirations of the political leadership, align with the state’s digital transformation goals and meet the expectations of citizens and residents for fast, secure and user-friendly digital government services.

In a statement to KUNA, Al-Omar said the ministry held an extensive meeting on Thursday with the executive committee of the Sahel app to review the latest developments and discuss plans to enhance the digital services offered through the platform.

He noted that Sahel serves as a central national platform for e-government services and is one of the state’s most important tools for digitizing public services. By offering access to various government agencies through a unified portal, the app helps reduce time and effort for users while increasing public satisfaction with government performance.

The next phase, Al-Omar said, will witness the rollout of new services and an increased focus on integration between government entities through data sharing and technical interconnectivity, aiming to deliver a more seamless and comprehensive digital experience for users.

“Digital transformation is not merely a technical process — it’s a fundamental shift in how services are delivered,” the minister said. “It reflects our commitment to transparency, equitable access and efficient public spending. The Sahel app is a practical embodiment of this vision.”

Al-Omar reaffirmed the government’s support for the Sahel executive committee and praised the efforts of the various working teams. He also underscored the need to intensify coordination with government bodies to expedite the inclusion of services and uphold the principle that “the service starts and ends with the citizen”.

He added that the coming stage will also require focused efforts to develop the Sahel Business app, which aims to better serve the private sector and empower entrepreneurs and companies to complete transactions efficiently — a key step toward digitizing Kuwait’s business environment. — KUNA
