Propaganda and the abyss
No Image

Propaganda is among the most powerful tools used by nations. It influences the masses, provides them with material to feed on, and becomes especially critical during times of war—whether to unify internal ranks or to demoralize the enemy.

But today, in some countries, propaganda has become everything. It is no longer just a tool; it is the hidden weapon used to shape consciousness and manipulate emotions. In our time—and in our region in particular—propaganda has become a substitute for real victory, genuine development, and lasting stability.

Development, security, civilization, and peace—none of these seem to matter anymore, as long as there is propaganda. It feeds the masses with slogans and supplies them with arguments — arguments that make them feel victorious against even the greatest forces.

This is why we should not be surprised to see some leaders exploit their followers to amplify their messages. Nor should we be surprised when intelligence agencies dedicate thousands of people who spend their days behind screens, pushing narratives they are instructed to promote. In today’s wars, digital platforms have become the main battleground. These platforms flood audiences with fake news, emotional videos, and strategic tweets. Once a tool for mobilizing people and resources, propaganda has now become a weapon of deception—used to falsify facts, spread hatred, and sell illusions in place of truth.

And it is this propaganda that is leading the masses toward the abyss. They march toward it, chanting slogans—slogans that blind them to the realities of their lives and the decline of their nations. They live in misery and die as victims. Even more troubling is that many of them are scientists, doctors, and intellectuals—yet still trapped under the cloud of propaganda. They lose their neutrality, their ability to think critically. And without that, no matter how many degrees a person holds, they live in ignorance. What we need today are serious awareness campaigns and trusted institutions that can expose the lies and distortions peddled by suspicious hands. These forces are working to divide our nations, inflame tensions, and fracture our societies from within. Propaganda today is more powerful than gunpowder. And it must be confronted—firmly, intelligently, and with deliberate, strategic plans.
