Minister: Need to transmit accurate, reliable information

KUWAIT: Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al-Mutairi stressed the need for official media outlets to enhance their role in swiftly delivering accurate and reliable information to the public, especially amid rapidly unfolding events and the multiplicity of information sources.

In a statement to KUNA during his visit to the agency’s headquarters on Wednesday to review its operations, Al-Mutairi emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts among official media bodies and the need to work with professionalism and objectivity to become a trusted source that raises public awareness, counters rumors and misinformation and acts as a safeguard for information stability and public opinion.

He praised the sincere national efforts of KUNA staff, highlighting the need to adhere to professional journalistic standards and to keep pace with developments and events both locally and globally. The minister reaffirmed full support for all measures that enable KUNA to fulfill its national role and stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among state institutions, especially in the media sector, to build a strong partnership in creating responsible and informed media that reflects Kuwait’s voice and safeguards its interests at home and abroad.

During his visit, Al-Mutairi was also briefed on KUNA’s media emergency plan designed to monitor the latest news and rapidly evolving developments in the region and the world. – KUNA
