IOMS praises Kuwait’s integration of security and scientific sectors

KUWAIT: The Islamic Organization for Medical Sciences (IOMS) has praised Kuwait’s model integration of security and scientific institutions, describing it as a commendable example for others to follow. Dr Mohammad Al-Jarallah, Chairperson of the IOMS, affirmed that this synergy reflects a high level of state awareness regarding the importance of supporting scientific endeavors grounded in legal and ethical principles — particularly in light of rapid advancements in genetics and artificial intelligence.

His remarks came on Sunday following a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah. During the meeting, Dr Al-Jarallah presented a commemorative shield to Sheikh Fahad in appreciation of the ministry’s significant support for the recently held international conference titled “Genetic Imprinting and Gene Editing in the Age of Artificial Intelligence: An Islamic Perspective.” Dr Al-Jarallah commended the Ministry of Interior’s pivotal role in ensuring the success of the event, which was organized by the IOMS. He highlighted the active participation of elite cadets and officers from Saad Al-Abdullah Academy, who engaged in in-depth discussions and contributed meaningfully to the sessions.

He noted that senior officials from various departments within the ministry also delivered insightful speeches and took part in scientific debates during the conference. The gathering addressed over 50 scientific topics, with particular focus on the applications of artificial intelligence in DNA-related fields. The conference also witnessed the participation of renowned scholars from leading academic institutions, including Al-Azhar University.— KUNA
