Writers’ Forum Kuwait continues to nurture literature

The Writers’ Forum Kuwait, after concluding a recent successful event of poetry at Avanti Palace, held another successful and enriching meeting on May 2 at the residence of poet Aamir Diwan.

The literary event at Avanti Palace was a reflection of the Forum’s continued efforts to bring together and showcase the cultural diversity of India as poetry in multiple Indian languages including Hindi, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi and English were recited at the event. Knitting further the relationship with academics and culture, K.Gangadhar Srisath, Principal of Indian Community School Khaitan, was invited as the president of the evening while Nitin Upadhyay from Maurya Kala Parisar was invited as the chief guest of the evening.

The event was graced by Ali Chougle, patron of the Forum. Presence of family and friends of the members and poetry lovers from all over India added to the success of the event. General Secretary of the Forum and Urdu poetess Nazneen Ali Naaz was the anchor of the event supported by co-anchor and Hindi poetess Dr Radhika Guleri Bhardwaj. The event started with tradition of lighting of the lamp by the president of the evening K Gangadhar Srisath, chief guest Nitin Upadhyay, President of the Forum Maimuna Ali Chougle, vice president Saeed Nazar Kadpawi and general secretary Nazneen Ali Naaz.

In addition to the vivid colors of poetry spread around, inauguration of books by members - Hindi translation of Urdu poetry book “Gham ki Dharti” by Saeed Nazar Kadpawi translated by Dr Rajesh Gupta and poetry book by Sangeeta Choubey, “Pankhudi ki Pankhudiyan”, were the key highlights of the evening. Books of members are a matter of pride for the Forum as it speaks of the literary contribution and achievement. So the highlight of the meeting was the new poetry book by Umesh Sharma, ex-president and founder member of the Forum.

The meeting was presided by the president Maimuna Ali Chougle while Kalpana Shah was invited as the chief guest. Nazneen Ali Naaz anchored the meeting and welcomed everyone. In her presidential remarks Ali Chougle expressed her appreciation for the members’ continued contribution to literature and presented an article on the literary skills and achievement of Umesh Sharma. Chief guest Kalpana Shah applauded each of the renditions of the day in her remarks.

Nazneen Ali Naaz, Kalpana Shah, Sangeeta Choubey Pankhudi, Dr Radhika Guleri Bhardwaj, Sabiha Bilgrami, Shabih Ahmed, Aamir Diwan, Saeed Nazar Kadpawi and Ameeruddin Ameer presented their captivating creations on both the occasions showcasing their continued commitment to the Forum. Other members who were present on either of the events were Anupama Chaturvedi, Kavita Sarvesh, Dr Afroz Alam, Ibrahim Sange Qasid, Dr Rajesh Gupta, Yajuvendra Chandrakar and Sabir Omer. The poetic evenings were concluded by the vote of thanks by Nazneen Ali Naaz.
