KRCS seeking to strengthen partnerships

BEIRUT: Chairman of the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) Ambassador Khaled Al-Mughamis underscored on Tuesday the importance of fostering cooperation and forging partnerships with local, regional, and international humanitarian organizations to unify efforts and enhance the impact of humanitarian work.

Speaking to the press following a meeting with Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Lebanon’s Zakat Fund, Mohammad Al-Jawzo, and his accompanying delegation, Al-Mughamis reaffirmed Kuwait’s steadfast commitment to humanitarian relief—particularly for displaced Syrians—under the guidance of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Al-Mughamis emphasized the need for coordinated action among humanitarian institutions to bolster emergency relief initiatives in light of mounting regional crises. He expressed full confidence in the professionalism and transparency of international humanitarian organizations and their field teams in managing relief operations effectively.

The meeting also addressed the humanitarian situation in Lebanon, with discussions focused on ways to strengthen collaboration and enhance joint efforts. Al-Mughamis reviewed the Zakat Fund’s charitable activities in Lebanon, commending its contributions to medical care, education, and support for vulnerable populations. He further noted the importance of exploring opportunities for coordination and support, praising the Zakat Fund’s commitment to serving those in need and its role in sustaining key humanitarian services.

For his part, Al-Jawzo extended his appreciation to Kuwait—its leadership, government, and people—for consistently standing by Lebanon in times of hardship. He highlighted the enduring support Kuwait has provided, both past and present, and called for deeper collaboration with KRCS to support shared humanitarian goals, particularly in the areas of education and healthcare.

Al-Jawzo noted that the Zakat Fund is dedicated to aiding Lebanon’s most vulnerable communities, aiming to reinforce the values of zakat and charitable giving. The Fund, he added, carries out a range of development, social, health, cultural, and relief programs designed to promote social cohesion and enhance the well-being of Lebanese society. — KUNA
